BrightPath Foundation Free Screening Access Network (BFSAN)
Connecting Communities to Prostate Cancer Screening Resources
BFSAN is a community partnership initiative of the BrightPath Foundation designed to expand awareness of and access to free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening opportunities, specifically supporting men who face systemic or socioeconomic barriers to preventive healthcare. BFSAN convenes trusted screening providers, clinical networks, mobility programs, and grassroots organizations around targeted community events.
Operating Scope: BFSAN is a partnership network, not a clinical provider, individual referral service, transportation service, or patient-navigation program.
Core Mantra: "Connect the right organizations, in the right communities, at the right time."
Convening Multi-Sector Partners for Targeted Screening Events
Aligning clinical providers, health centers, and community organizations to expand preventive screening access based on local need.
Why BFSAN Was Created
Bridging the gap between existing screening resources and the communities that need them most.
Inconsistent Awareness & Access
While high-quality prostate cancer screening programs exist, public awareness and community-based access remain fragmented, especially for high-risk men and underserved populations.
Strengthening Existing Connections
Rather than duplicating established services, BFSAN reinforces partnerships among health systems, transit providers, and trusted grassroots leaders already equipped to deliver care.
Event-Based Convener Focus
BrightPath leverages civic trust and community relationships to coordinate purposeful, event-driven screening interventions rather than individual case management.
The BrightPath Foundation Role
Event Coordination vs. Individual Case Management
The BrightPath Foundation serves primarily as a community convener and awareness partner within the BFSAN ecosystem.

How BFSAN Works: The 5-Step Event Framework
A structured horizontal methodology coordinating multi-sector partners around community screening events.
1. Identify
BrightPath & partners identify priority communities where prostate cancer awareness and screening impact will be greatest.
2. Connect
Engage available BFSAN partners based on geographic location, clinical capacity, timing, and willingness to participate.
3. Activate
Independent partner delivery at the event. Each participating organization operates strictly within its professional scope.
4. Educate
Promote public awareness, informed decision-making dialogues, and reliable prostate cancer educational materials.
5. Transition
Clinical boundary: results communication, follow-up tests, and care recommendations remain strictly with the healthcare provider.
Desired BFSAN Partner Ecosystem
The four defined partner categories supporting targeted community screening and education.
1. Free Screening Providers
Healthcare organizations capable of providing free PSA screening during community events (hospitals, FQHCs, mobile vans, VA facilities, urology groups).
2. Clinical Follow-Up Partners
Clinical networks supporting post-PSA evaluation when needed: secondary testing, urology consults, active surveillance, biopsy, or imaging.
3. Transportation-Support Partners
Existing mobility and transit organizations providing patient transport subject to their own criteria, scheduling, and regional coverage.
4. Community Outreach Partners
Faith-based groups, veterans organizations, fraternities/civic groups, barbershops, and employers reaching men who avoid screening.
How Organizations Connect With BFSAN
Organizations interested in supporting community prostate cancer screening events may contact the BrightPath Foundation to discuss participation. Participation is flexible, and partners participate based on geographic reach, organizational capacity, timing, and specific event focus (there is no requirement to support every event).
