A Simple Arm Blood Draw: Exactly What to Expect
Many men postpone prostate health checks because of outdated perceptions about physical rectal exams. This community screening utilizes a straightforward, state-of-the-art venous blood test.
Your Pants Stay On
There is absolutely no rectal exam (DRE) at this screening. You stay fully dressed, relax comfortably in a private clinical phlebotomy chair, and roll up one sleeve.
Rapid 5-Minute Arm Draw
A certified phlebotomist from Mary Washington Healthcare draws a tiny vial of blood to check your Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) protein level.
Confidential Lab Analysis
Your sample is processed by the hospital laboratory. You and your designated physician will receive results securely in the mail or via the online MWHC MyChart patient portal.
